Technical Director/Part Time

BACKGROUND

The Cultural Park Theatre Company promotes artistic creativity, education in the arts and theatrical presentations building a foundation for a vibrant cultural community. It is owned and administered by Cultural Park Theater Company Inc., a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit corporation.

For over 57 years The Cultural Park Theatre has presented or hosted theater productions, art exhibits, concerts, and private gatherings. Apart from presenting educational programs for children, young adults and adults, Cultural Park produces 20 to 24 shows each year, over its summer and winter seasons.

Cultural Park Theater is located in Cape Coral, Florida in a building owned by the City of Cape Coral but is run by the Cultural Park Theater Company as the managing company for the city and maintains its own business management, staff and funding. It contains a Theater which is a 184 seat presidium arch stage, the Culliton Gunterberg art gallery, gift shop exhibit area, rehearsal hall, work shop as well as production and administrative spaces. CPTC also occupies three offsite storage buildings.

 

Primary Purpose:

To manage and provide technical support to the Cultural Park Theatre Co.

 

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in technical theater and theater organization

Bachelors Degree Preferred – Experience may replace degree

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

-Collaborative skills

-Human relation skills

-Knowledge of sound and lighting equipment

-Knowledge of rigging systems

-Ability to execute rental contracts

-Skilled in operating personal computers, sound and light boards

 

Experience:

3 years of theatrical stage production

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Manage the facility technical needs to ensure a clean, orderly and safe environment. Facilitate the maintenance and repair of facility equipment.
  2. Collaborate with Executive Director to develop and maintain company budget.
  3. Facilitate the hiring and training of staff and student workers.
  4. Indentify the needs for scheduled events and exercise leadership in planning facility and equipment preparation.
  5. Coordinate events pursuant to established policies and procedures.
  6. Assist with design and implementation of lighting, rigging, sound, equipment and furnishings, physical set-up, and audio/visual needs for events including, but not limited to: theatrical productions, dance recitals, music concerts, meetings, professional development and outside rentals.
  7. Assist with hosting responsibilities during events including those occurring on nights and weekends. This includes the handling of emergency situations.
  8. Other duties as requested by Cultural Park Theatre Board of Directors.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

             Technical training of student workers and volunteers.

 

Equipment Used:

            Computers, theatrical rigging, lighting, visual projection and sound equipment

 

Working Conditions:

            Irregular hours, work most weekends and some holidays.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Moderate lifting; climbing; bending; exposure to dust, noise, heights and other physical risks associated with the operation of an auditorium.
